Hiring Tutors for our 2024 Residential Summer Program!
Program Dates: June 16-July 18, 2024
The Upward Bound Residential Summer Program is an on-campus academic experience for high school students from 5 LAUSD high schools. The program aims to assist first-generation, college-bound high school students to prepare and succeed in postsecondary education by introducing them to college credit courses.
This summer, Upward Bound is looking to hire tutors to provide tutoring to program participants during our summer program. Tutors must be able to tutor at the community college level in the following areas: Communications, Chicano Studies, Geology, Administrative Justice, Psychology, and Digital Media Arts.
Job Description
- Sit in class and take notes for one (or two) of the classes (some classes are from 7:45 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. and others from 1:00 p.m. to 3:50 p.m.)
- Tutor students after class from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
- Aid students with daily homework and projects
- Report student progress and behavior to UB staff, including the program director and program coordinators.
- Conduct study sessions to prepare students for midterms, essays, and finals.
- Edit papers, make suggestions for writing prompts, and assist with brainstorming ideas.
Please Note: All tutoring will be in person at the USC campus.
Starting Rate: $17/hour
