PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This position will work with our engineering team to design and build leading
cryogenic instruments used to test quantum devices. Using a knowledge gained
in the classroom and on the job, this position will design parts and
assemblies with an eye towards easy manufacturing, good thermal behavior,
vacuum compatibility, and ease of assembly.
APPLICATIONS AND EQUIPMENT:
Computer work with SolidWorks for CAD, and one of many options for data
analysis: Matlab, Python, Origin and/or Excel. The laboratory work
will involve a combination of 4 Kelvin (and below!) cryostats and
cryogenic probe stations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Office and light-industrial laboratory space. The work will be predominately
standard office work with some manual assembly time in a laboratory. This will
involve lifting up to 30 lbs. and using hand tools near delicate instruments.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Preferred major(s): Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Physics, or
related disciplines.
Preferred level of education: 3 years of undergraduate education completed.
Preferred coursework completed or skills already possessed: Some familiarity
with CAD is strongly preferred–ideally SolidWorks. Coursework in mechanical
design, heat transfer, and thermodynamics would greatly help a candidate
fulfill this role. Some basic programing and data analysis experience is also
preferred.
The pay range for this role in Boulder, CO is between $26.00 and $32.00
per hour. FormFactor maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to
