This summer, the USC Career Center is making important updates to the career tools available to you. As part of this transition, VMock, USC’s AI resume review tool, will be discontinued on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.

Profiles will not be accessible past this date and documents previously uploaded to VMock will be deleted to ensure data privacy. Students can log into their account to download any resumes, cover letters, or CVs saved on the platform before June 30.

Learn how to download saved files on your account by reviewing our How to Download Your Files from VMock tutorial.

More details on what’s coming next will be shared soon. Our new AI resume platform, launching closer to the Fall 2026 term, will be available to currently enrolled students and will no longer be limited to 10 resume uploads per school year.

In the meantime, students will continue to have access to resume support through our 15-minute virtual resume reviews that can be scheduled on Handshake. Students who would like to utilize AI in editing their resume can visit our AI Guidelines page for tips and resources.

VMock Career Acceleration Platform is an AI-driven resource offering students a suite of module-based tools to assist with resume creation and career planning. Current USC students get access once they enroll in classes and receive 10 uploads per school year.

At this time VMock is not available to alumni.

Accessing VMock

To watch a video tutorial for accessing the platform, log into Handshake and find the VMock overview located in the University Career Center resources tab.

You can also visit www.vmock.com/usc

Click on Career Center then find resources and search for VMock to locate the page titled VMock

Start with a virtual resume review powered by AI

  • Smart Resume provides instant feedback on resume formatting, content, and the impact your resume will have with a recruiter
  • Please be aware that current students receive ten resume uploads for review each school year which refresh in July. To request additional uploads, please email careers@usc.edu

Create a resume using an online template

  • Smart Editor shows you how to construct a resume for the first time using a campus template or convert an existing copy seamlessly to the available templates. This can be accomplished within the portal!
  • Doctoral students can also access a Curriculum Vitae template

Tailor your resume to a specific industry or application

  • Resume Optimizer helps you create a recruiter-ready resume targeted toward a specific job description or your desired career track.
  • This is excellent preparation for applications that ATS systems will review, which scan for keywords, skills, and competencies on a candidate’s Resume.

Explore career options and develop an action plan

  • Career Fit contains a library of different industries and jobs allowing users to find a career path that matches their interests.
  • Students who upload their resumes can view a Fit Score (matching involvement, skills, and experience to related pathways).  Users then receive detailed feedback to create an action plan to prepare for their desired career path.
  • As with Smart Resume, users get ten resume uploads per year but only receive five feedback reports annually, which compare resumes to career targets for a Fit Score.

Prepare to market your personal brand

  • Elevator Pitch  and Mock Interview are online modules that allow you to prepare your conversations with recruiters
  • Users receive instant feedback on body language, the quality of their pitch speech content, and suggestions for improvement.  Within the module users can rewatch their recording with time-aligned feedback.
