Industry Insights is designed for students who are exploring various career options, eager to hear professional journeys, and looking for full-time and internship opportunities to help determine what path to take. Industry Insights is a multi-day event that is student-led and held each Fall and Spring semester. Attend “Educational” Industry Panels via Zoom, where you can hear directly from employers about how they broke into their industry and how to best pursue a career in that field.

What is Industry Insights? What does the day of Industry Insights look like?

Industry Insights is a multi-day event of educational panels where students attend to learn about what it is like to work in the event’s chosen industry and how to enter the field. Learn firsthand from organizations and get your resume shared with participating organizations!

Can ______ industry have an Industry Insights event? My student organization is interested in collaborating. 
We consider industries the semester prior to the event (i.e., for Fall 2023, we select industries in Spring 2023). Email ocr@usc.edu the semester before your desired event with industry suggestions you would like to see. Priority will be given to student organizations that are willing to collaborate with the Career Center for the event.

Collaboration perks include: (1) being highlighted as a co-sponsor in the Career Center’s Industry Insights marketing (social media, online, and print), (2) providing a list of desired employers to the Career Center for targeted outreach, and (3) moderating the employer panel alongside a career center representative.

Where is the event located?

We will be hosting Industry Insights virtually for Fall 2023. To access the educational panel portions for Industry Insights, please register for the Zoom Webinar’s through this list:

How should I prepare for Industry Insights?
We recommend researching the companies registered to attend beforehand so that you can ask specific questions about their career opportunities through the Q&A.

What should I wear for the event?
There is no specific dress code for Industry Insights, however, since you may be video calling with employers, we do recommend business casual dress.

Should I bring copies of my resume?
Yes, it is required to upload your resume on connectSC.

What if I cannot attend an Industry Insights event?
If you are unable to attend due to a scheduling conflict, we will record the panel portion of the events and will be available on our YouTube Channel after the event.
