Informal/Flash Mentorship: This type of mentorship happens organically. You may connect with a mentor one-time to get your resume reviewed or learn from alumni’s job experience. These relationships may evolve into deeper longer lasting professional connections, or the interaction could simply be a one-time occurrence. Informational interviews, coffee chats or simple Q&A sessions are all examples of informal mentorships.
Formal Mentorships: This is a structured program where alumni and students are paired together with intention and time requirement. They require regular check-ins and work together through shared goals.
