Thinking about what you can do with your major? Looking for an internship? Interested in learning more about what working in certain industries is like? This career exploratory event is for you!
Investigate Industries and Internships (i3) is designed for students who are exploring various career options, eager to hear professional journeys, and looking for internship opportunities to help determine what path to take. At an i3 event, you can learn how employers broke into their respective industries, discover what it is actually like to work in the field, and network with hiring professionals to let them know what makes you a great candidate. All participating employers offer paid internships for fall, spring, or summer semesters, so this is your chance to learn more about their company and make a great impression. For more information, please read the FAQ below.
i3 is broken up into two sessions. First, the “Educational” Industry Panels on January 19, 20, and 25 at 12:00 PM via Zoom, where you can hear directly from organizations about their industry and how to best pursue an internship in that field. Next, a 3-hour Networking Event for all the industries will be held on Thursday, January 27 via Brazen, where you can meet 1-1 with recruiters to learn about paid internships.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is i3? What does the day of i3 look like?
i3 is a multi-day event of educational panels leading to a 3-hour networking event on January 27. Prior to the networking event, you can attend panels to learn about what it is like to work in the event’s chosen industry and how to enter the field. The networking portion will allow you to speak more personally to the all employers about their professional journeys, as well as learn about internship opportunities with their organization. This is your chance to connect with, ask questions, and share your resume to hiring employers!
Can ______ industry have an i3 event? My student organization is interested in collaborating.
We consider industries the semester prior to the event (i.e., for Spring 2022, we select industries in Fall 2021). Email firstname.lastname@example.org the semester before your desired event with industry suggestions you would like to see. Priority will be given to student organizations that are willing to collaborate with the Career Center for the event.
Collaboration perks include: (1) being highlighted as a co-sponsor in the Career Center’s i3 marketing (social media, online, and print), (2) providing a list of desired employers to the Career Center for targeted outreach, and (3) moderating the employer panel alongside a career center representative.
Where is the event located?
We will be hosting i3 virtually in the Spring 2022 semester. To access the panel portions for i3, please register for the Zoom Webinar’s through this list:
- Media, Entertainment, and Marketing – January 19 at 12:00 PM
- Technology, Internet & Start-ups – January 20 at 12:00 PM
- Fashion, Art, and Design – January 25 at 12:00 PM
How should I prepare for i3?
We recommend researching the companies registered to attend beforehand so that you can ask specific questions about their internship opportunities. If you attend the panel portion of i3, then you will be able to engage in meaningful conversation with the representatives about the details that they shared on the panel, and you can highlight the qualities about yourself that most closely align with what they are looking for in an intern.
What should I wear for the event?
There is no specific dress code for i3, however, since you may be video calling with employers, we do recommend business casual dress.
Should I bring copies of my resume?
Yes, it is required to upload your resume to access the networking event.
What if I cannot attend an i3 event?
If you are unable to attend due to a scheduling conflict, we will record the panel portion of the events and will be available on our YouTube Channel after the event.
