If your organization is interested in developing or expanding your engagement efforts with diverse student populations, in conjunction with the USC Career Center, please consider participating in these signature events encompassing our DEI efforts:
Events Centered Around Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Our Diversity Meet & Greet (DMG) is held each fall semester where employers with strong diversity initiatives can network with affinity student organizations through a “reverse career fair/student org showcase.” Our program goal brings together employers who have strong diversity initiatives (like Employee Resource Groups, diversity training, lunch & learn discussions, to name a few) with underrepresented students (first-generation, low-income, students of color, LGBTQ+, and other marginalized social identities).
- The Fall 2020 Diversity Meet & Greet was held on September 30, 2020 with 26 employers and 15 student organizations with strong equity, inclusion and diversity programs at their organization. The Fall 2021 Diversity Meet & Greet will be held on September 29, 2021 from 2:00 – 5:00 PM PT virtually. Registration opens on June 2nd and employers can register on connectSC.

Our Diverse Student Perspectives Discussion offers an educational focus group in the fall and spring semesters, facilitated by the USC Career Center. A panel of students from minoritized populations speak about their diversity recruiting experiences and their involvement with these specific opportunities in their professional roles. Students also provide insight into additional ways that employers can increase access to diversity student groups and engage students through the entire recruitment and employment process. Employers will have the opportunity to listen, ask questions, and participate in a meaningful conversation on enhancing inclusion and equity within your organization.
Events are intended to support diversity and inclusion efforts by connecting organizations with diverse USC undergraduate and graduate students from all majors and backgrounds. Programs are coordinated with USC Student Equity and Inclusion Programs in addition to student organizations and student assemblies:

Recruitment and Retention through Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging
USC students and alumni value organizations that prioritize inclusive recruiting practices that promote a work environment that supports diverse populations in their professional roles. Recruitment is important, but retention is critical to the health and thriving of your operations. This resource is intended to provide you with a few helpful tips for talking to students about your organization’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Providing evidence that your organization has support structures to ensure the success of underrepresented employees is essential. How your organization fosters an inclusive culture:
- Does your organization offer mentoring programs? Employee affinity/inclusion groups? Family-friendly programs such as job sharing?
- Does your organization have unbiased retention in the workforce (i.e., employees are retained at equal levels regardless of race/ethnicity or gender)?
- What does diversity, equity, and inclusion look like at all levels particularly at the management, executive, and board levels?
Where and with whom your organization does business:
- Do your organization’s suppliers include small, women, underrepresented/marginalized, and/or LGBTQ+ suppliers?
- Does your organization conduct business with and/or have products made in countries that do not protect the human rights of their workers?
- What are the causes that your organization’s charitable efforts benefit?
Your organization’s compliance with federal laws:
- What is your organization’s non-discriminatory policy on sexual orientation and gender identity?
- Does your organization have a proven track record of having no civil rights violations?
Inclusivity of your benefits package:
- What are your organization’s partner benefits?
- Does your organization have a family-related leave policy?
- Do your organization’s benefits include transgender inclusive health insurance?
