The USC Career Center stands with our Black Trojans. We stand with Black students and alumni as they embark on their professional journeys. We stand with our Black staff, faculty, and employers. Black Lives Matter. Black dreams matter. Black careers matter. We acknowledge that in order to effect positive change, we must not be silent. Racism and discrimination still exist, and we are committed to dismantling these systemic and oppressive practices through:
- Continuing to engage with employers about anti-racist and non-discriminatory recruitment policies.
- Assessing our advising protocols to ensure that we support and empower students, not place further burdens on them.
- Examining our resume and application formalities to allow students to present themselves and their experiences in the way that best supports who they are.
- Providing and promoting D&I efforts, including supporting the addition of anti-racist work as a core career readiness competency for our professional association, National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE).
We recognize that this is just the start. There is always more to be done as we continue our work in helping Black Trojans fulfill their professional aspirations.
