EDIT: Trump administration does about-face, drops rule that threatened foreign students (Los Angeles Times)
The global pandemic has caused disruptions across the world, and its impact has been felt acutely by our international students. When U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced that international students must take at least some of their classes in person or risk having their visas revoked, it did not take long for resistance to mobilize.
Last week, the state of California announced that it was suing the federal government over this policy. Today, President Folt issued a statement announcing that USC has joined a coalition of 20 schools suing the Trump administration over the policy. Additionally, the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) issued a position statement denouncing the policy and its enforcement.
As the situation continues to unfold, we want to remind all international students and recent graduates that the Career Center is fully available and will continue to support you in your job search. Contact us with any questions.
